An individual who takes on the responsibility of care giving can always be subjected to the possibility of accusations of abuse. Every person who enters the educational field will find out how vulnerable they can become in a given situation. In this particular case, it is the teacher and the teaching environment that suffer as the victims because the educational system isn’t thorough enough to protect their own. Teachers require the protection from corruption as will be exemplified by this entire case.
As reported by regular local media frenzy, it seems everyday someone in the justice system is questioned on his or her ethics and legal accountability, and rightly so. One law after another is broken in case after case, and I believe lawyers, judges and court administrators knowingly ignore the real meaning of the procedures. In many cases certain legal terminology, such as nolo contendre, do not withstand the definition of the intent. An act of perjury is ignored and federal HIPAA and FERPA laws are tossed aside as if they had no meaning. Formal complaints to various branches of government at the federal and state level are absolutely futile.
Given various circumstances, a judge has every opportunity to control the direction of a particular outcome of a case. Lambert County, Pennsylvania is where my attitude toward the legal system took a turn for the worst. For over thirty years my wife, Susan Brennan Warton, had been a teacher in a special education program. She loved her career of teaching. This was her chance to make a difference in that part of the world. In the thirty plus years that Susan taught in the community of special education, hundreds, if not more children, from pre-school age to adult teens, benefited from her dedicated drive, compassion, and expert skills.
Throughout this ordeal, Sue stayed strong with a belief that there was a reason this was all happening to her. She never veered from staying positive, believing in her faith in God. Still today, the case is producing some shadows. A few of the persons who were involved against her in our lawsuit from the beginning are now finding themselves on the other side of the law. Sue continues on with a sense of sorrow for those who will go through hell over the next few months as they face uncertainty within the court system.
Throughout her years, Susan had met with many of the parents of special needs children. For those parents of special needs children it was always heartbreaking to learn that their child may never share all the normal experiences throughout their lives. For Susan it became a challenge for her to offer some of those children and parents a chance, or possibly some hope, that someday, there may be some type of help, or therapy available to develop their child’s needs towards normalcy. Susan’s career in special education literally ended after two disgruntled classroom staffers falsely accused her of abusing her students.
In the last years as a teacher in a special educational autistic program, her career began unraveling, and ironically, Susan found herself in the midst of a criminal trial involving parents of the same students she loved so much. I will attempt to tell in detail the parts of the legal system that have harmed my family, me personally, and other innocent individuals. Taxpayers and officers of the different educational establishments also paid a monetary price.
